If you ever walk down a busy street in the US, you will invariably find coins lying around. People generally do not pick them up. If you go into an average house in the US, you will find a “coin jar” where all the coins got from occasional cash transactions are stored. A cent or a dime may be small money for an average US family, but think what just ten such dimes (a dollar) can do for a poor family in India!
Two cents of hope (TCH) is an organization run completely by students which taps into this idea. Volunteers from TCH collect coins and change which would otherwise be discarded, and use it to fund the educational expenses of needy people in India.

What started off with only 6 members in NCSU, has today grown into a strong organization with chapters in USA, Europe, India and Australia. TCH has a glorious list of completed projects which will make any one who has donated coins to TCH extremely proud.
During Graduate school, most Indians struggle to make ends meet. Finding time for such noble deeds alongside juggling coursework definitely sets the students working for TCH a class apart.

Nice. Lot of people working excuse themselves from such small contributions, for really silly reasons .. but, to do this in grad school is truly marvelous!
